Alan Simpson served from 1979 to 1996 as a Republican Senator from Wyoming. A former governor of that state as well, Simpson also served as the co-chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. He teaches periodically at the University of Wyoming and serves as co-chairman of the group Americans for Campaign Reform.
