Random thoughts...really random!
They may be ours, they may be yours, but whomever they belong to, they don't amount to much but some electronic graffiti. (Join in!: e-mail us your random thoughts. Keep 'em short and you may see them right here on this page--but be warned: your spelling and grammar errors will appear exactly the way you wrote them!)
Paul the producer sez:
Hey, you know this guy, right? It's the guy who used to have the time slot Jimbo toils in each night. Ol' Lar has been the acknowledged "Iran Man" of radio for a long time. But no longer! As of Wednesday, January 30, 2008, Jimbo caught and passed Larry, beating the King's 15 years on Westwood One (and its predecessor network, the Mutual Broadcasting System). Help us make history every weeknight by staying up late with us (after first listening to Larry, of course--his show Larry King Live is Jimbo's lead-in on many Westwood One stations!)

Jim the host sez:
There's a story to go along with the picture at the left. In 1988, I was in Iowa as George H.W. Bush finished a disastrous third in the Presidential caucuses. He desperately needed to win the following week in the New Hampshire primary. He did win, of course, and went on to become president, stating on the morning after the election, "Thank you, New Hampshire." I came into the Sheraton Wayfarer Hotel in Manchester early the morning after the primary, February 17th, 1988, where Bush had held his victory party just a few hours earlier. As I was about to start preparing my morning news magazine, America in the Morning, I saw workmen tearing down everything in the room...including a large vertical banner on white cloth. It was the largest single item in the room with his name on it, and it was headed for the trash. With a hunch that Bush was going on to win the Presidency, I grabbed the banner and stored it away. In early 2007 I came across the banner again and decided it should go to the Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. It's there now. (A friend of mine with a tall house let me display it for this photo!)

(Talking about our recent topic of things your neighbors would never dream you were involved with:) Family and Friends and co-workers would be shocked to know that (name witrhheld by request) send emails to a radio host and sometimes disclosing some parts of her private life. That's my secret and no one will ever know. Bad Girl!
Joyce Romano of Redondo Beach, CA, sez:
(Talking about recent guest and guest-host Dennis Miller, who now has his own daily show on Westwood One:) I heard Dennis' segment when he filled in for Jim Bohannon.
HE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(C'mon, Joyce, don't be shy--tell us how you really feel!)
Lookee here! It happened again!
(Scott from Washington State:) Not quite sure whom to thank, but thanks to whomever chose Allan Prell to guest host. I was a big fan when his run on KIRO 710 AM in Seattle came to a very premature end. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing him.
(Gessen, also from Washington State:) Who is this guy you have sitting in for Jim? This left-wing nut sounds awful on the radio and makes mistakes on the air! Then he goes on to say that he will wear a majorette uniform?! What is this, a comedy show?!
Paul the producer sez: We have more proof the American hearing aid industry may need a boost. Read the following from "ndlover2002" and understand Jim never said this! (By the way, "ndlover2002"...do you eat with that mouth? Sheesh!):
I'm sick of your Liberal s**t on the show tonight, that's a bunch of BS! Rush Limbaugh and all the conservaties are NOT liars!! How dare you say that!! Screw your piece of s**t show!! They have way more listeners than sucky Jim does! You're just jealous that you can't compete half as good as they do. Bill O'Reilly kicks your a$$ as well. I'm not wasting one minute anymore with your garbage. I'm telling all my conservative friends to do the same, I have a lot too. Welcome to Garbage Talk - you all suck a$$!!
Paul the producer sez:
I got to spend time with my in-laws over in December of 2005 at their home in Pine Glen, PA (don't bother looking for it on the map unless you own an electron microscope--it's that small!). This is my wife, Debby. (This is not me.)
Jim the host sez:
This is one of my very favorite intersections in my hometown of Lebanon, MO: the bustling corner of Fremont and No Dumping!
Point/Counterpoint!
(Laurie from Gainesville, GA:) I tuned in the last 2 nights to find guest host Leslie Marshall. I have to say that she seems so one-sided (to the left) in her guest interviews that I didn't make it through either show. Mr. Bohannon's ability to ask piercing questions of his guests and callers while remaining impartial is refreshing. Hope he returns soon!
(Susan from Columbia, MO:) Leslie Marshall was a most thought-provoking, yet polite, substitute for Jim - I hope you will be having her on again. Thanks!
Norma from (we think) IA, sez:
hey jimbo i listen to you and i looked at your picture you look more like danny bonneduche from the tv show the partrige family not harrison ford or brad pitt in my opinion look at his picture and you will see what i mean ok just thought you would like to know from one of your listeners you are still a good looking guy though
Paul the producer sez:
It's beginning to appear that we're taking the "Player of the Week" concept just a little too far! (This shot was taken in the alley behind our own studios!)
Jim the host sez:
Poems that don't rhyme.
Seventeen syllables--why?
What's haiku to you?
Paul the producer sez:
Hey, Kansas City-ites: When you call in to the show, why are you so surprised that I would ask you if you're in Kansas City, Missouri, or Kansas City, Kansas? Is there some sort of blood feud about this that I'm not aware of?
Jerry R. from Sauk Rapids, MN, sez:
(regarding the appearance of guest Tom Leykis:) Please create a hate mail section for your website like this pig your interviewing has and let this be on the top of the list. Thanks for letting me down!
