Here are some past pictures from the Jim Bohannon Show!
This one's from the Bohannon archive. Gee that Tai Shan grows up fast! Actually, that's Jim on the right, with Walter Cronkite on the left and the mascot of the WWF in the center (no, not the sweaty wrestling guys--the World Wildlife Fund!).
If you're a regular listener to America in the Morning (and you are, aren't you?), you've heard the feature "Face-Off," which until recently aired near the end of the second half-hour of the program. Here's Jimbo on the steps of the Capitol moderating a friendly discussion between the "Face-Off" principals, Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona (L) and Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts (R).
When Frank Stallone appeared on the program, he did so from the Network's studios in California. Here's Frank, in front of the big Westwood One microphone (and a tip o' the ol' equalizer to Ron Harris, who took this shot for us!).
We told you Jimbo recently won the 2006 Peter Hackes Award, presented by the Washington, DC, chapter of the Radio-Television News Directors Association. Lo and behold: above, here's the proof! Congratulations to our host for this well-deserved recognition. Immediately below is Jim on that same night with two of the RTNDA dignitaries: on the left with Connie Lawn, President of the DC chapter of the RTNDA, and on the right with Barbara Cochran, RTNDA's national president. (A special thank you to Ms. Lawn, a recent Bohannon Show guest, for the photos!)
.
Ah, yes...two very lucky men indeed! Jim Bohannon (L) and Percy Gibson, the husband of the glamorous Joan Collins, seen here holding her latest book "The Art of Living Well: Looking Good, Feeling Great." As you can see, she's been taking her own advice very well!
Will he or won't he? (Aw, who are we kidding--of course he's gonna run!) Here's Jim with former North Carolina Senator and 2004 Voice Presidential nominee John Edwards, and his new book "Home."
 .
During Jim's last visit to his hometown station, KLWT in Lebanon, MO, the station's Terri Caldwell was in the right place at the right time to capture these two remarkable shots of one of the world's most elusive superheroes: GeishaSumoman! Just look at those muscles (if you can actually find them)! And look at that hair! Yes, the strength of a Sumo and the sensitivity of a Geisha. Evildoers beware, lest you find yourself locked in the Big Bearhug of Love!
Perhaps this photo is proof that there is a link in men between talent and being follicularly-challenged. This is Jim with the wonderful comedian and social commentator Larry Miller, along with Miller's book "Spoiled Rotten America."
Here's Jim with Marc Eliot, author of "Jimmy Stewart: A Biography." If you're a big film fan, this is a book you won't want to miss! (Your webmaster did not take this picture, but the person who did has obviously studied this page's photo technique!)
 .
This was a big doubleheader night for us, as the shots above were taken the same night. On the left is Jim with former Special Counsel to President Clinton Lanny Davis, and a copy of his book "Scandal;' on the right is Jim with Arianna Huffington, operator of the website The Huffington Post, and a copy of her new book "On Becoming Fearless." (Ms. Huffington almost didn't get on the air on time, because she and Mr. Davis were swapping stories outside the studio even as our opening theme began!)
Yes, that is former Marine R. Lee Ermey of Mail Call fame, and no, we have no idea how Jim convinced him to allow him to slouch in this photograph. (Frankly, we expected Lee to yell at Jim and force Jim to drop and give him 30!)
Here's Jim with former Secretary of Defense William Cohen. We were unable to convince Mr. Cohen that being on radio means you can dress more casually. The guy wouldn't even loosen his tie--we asked!
We hope you were listening when Democratic Representative Jim Cooper of Tennessee dropped by to talk about a book our government doesn't really want you to know about. Jim and the Congressman are flanking that volume, "The Financial Report of the United States" (for which the Congressman wrote a foreword).
Another night when we had more fun than radio people are normally permitted, and certainly we're the only program in America able to convulse both guests and listeners with a hilarious joke about druids (you had to be there--where were you?). Anyway, here's Jim with authors Ridley Pearson (L) and Dave Barry (yes, that Dave Barry, R) and the latest book in their Peter Pan prequel series for kids, "Peter and the Shadow Thieves" (from Disney Editions, of course).
He's an unpreposessing man, but he's also a major figure in the history of American politics. He's former Nixon administration White House counsel John Dean. who visited with Jim recently to talk about his book "Conservatives Without Conscience."
Your webmaster apologizes for the composition of this shot of Jim and Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo (and his book "In Mortal Danger")--we had to take it quickly and stay out the way of the C-SPAN2 "BookTV" crew filming us that night. (You did see that appearance, didn't you?)
And now, a guest our studio's mirrored ceiling really loved! (The rest of us, too!)
Here's Jim with Miss America 2006, Jennifer Berry!
Recently, the Discover Home Channel's 'Toolbelt Diva' herself, Norma Vally, visited the program and helped us give away some neat tool kits. Pictured above is Jim and Norma, along with her husband Rick, when they visited DC's famed Palm Restaurant. (See the great caricature of Jim right over Norma's head?)
Jim had the honor of helping to roast Simon Rose (L) and Fred Parry (R), the mid-morning team at affiliate KFRU in Columbia, MO. They look all buddy-buddy here, but you can be sure Jim sliced 'em to ribbons when he was up on the podium. (Notice how well Jim is dressed? It's just what these two 'honorees' deserve!) (Eh, who are we trying to kid? If you've hear them on the air, Simon and Fred are terrific. If you haven't heard them, what are you waiting for? Get to Columbia, MO, as soon as you can! Low on gas money? Hear 'em here.)
 .
Your webmaster is back from vacation, so by now you know what that means: vacation photos! This year's destination was sunny San Diego, where the sun turned the webmaster's skin from its usual fishbelly white to a wonderful shade of beige. (Well, you've got to start somewhere.) The two shots above were taken at the famed San Diego Zoo, which is just as impressive as you've heard. On the left is a Nubian Soemmerring's Gazelle; on the right is a Marabou Stork. The zoo houses them in the same habitat! (Also note the stork showing off its rear end. This happened frequently with many of the animals--people show up and the animals paraded their rumps. Learned behavior or natural instinct? You make the call!) The two shots below were taken at during the "backstage tour" of the San Diego Padres home stadium, PETCO Park. If you're a baseball fan, put this park on your list of places to visit. It's in the same league with Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore and the gorgeous PNC Park in Pittsburgh. These shots are of the webmaster's wife, Debby, in the Padres home dugout and right behind home plate, where the centerfield camera peers in at the batter, catcher, and umpire. We also took in two games, which the Padres split with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
So, who is this handsome devil? Why, it's Sam Litzinger of Washington Post Radio, who has been heard filling in for Jimbo recently, and doing a great job, we might add. You can listen to Sam each weekday from noon to 3:00 pm Eastern Time by going to www.washingtonpostradio.com and clicking on the Listen Live link.
America in the Morning is proud to be associated with America's only full-time radio service for Federal employees, FederalNewsRadio.com and their Washington, DC, over-the-air radio station, 1050 WFED. Jim recently visited the Federal News Radio studios; here he is with two of their highly-talented staff members: J.J. Green on the left and Judelyne Lilly on the right.
Jim recently attended the annual remembrance ceremony at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, DC, honoring the families of those who lost their lives fighting for the liberation of Kuwait in the first Gulf War. On the right is Jim at the ceremony with the Cahirman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff, General Peter Pace. A few days later we welcomed the sponsor of the event to our studios; on the left is Jim with Kuwait's Ambassador to the United States, Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, and Carmella LaSpada, executive director of the White House Commission on Remembrance.
All hail Sir Jimbo, Angel Knight of the Airwaves! Jim was honored by the Good Knight Child Empowerment Network for getting the word out about their good works combatting child predators. (Jimbo was presented the sword you see here, so please contact us if you have a realllllly big wheel of cheese available!) All jokes aside, you can help stop child predators; visit the Good Knights website to find out how. Plus, you can learn how Jimbo got involved with this fine organization and see some great photos, too!
Here are two shots from the Winter Olympics, courtesy of Westwood One crew member Brian Force (Thanks, Brian!) On the left is one of the beautiful mountain venues; on the right is our somewhat less scenic but still plenty handsome engineer Ted Schneider. (P.S.: You should visit Brian Force's website. It's well worth your time!)
You loved her on "The View" and she's even better today hosting "National Georgraphic Explorer." Right after you check out this picture of Jimbo with Lisa Ling, click on this link to the National Geographic Channel to see what project she's got going now.
Up-and-coming country music artist Jack Ingram graced our studios and even sang a couple of his songs for us live. As you can see from the shot on the right, your webmaster isn't much of a photographer; you should be able to see that the CD is called "Live--Wherever You Are." Wherever you are, you should run out and get a copy--you'll be able to say you knew about Jack before he really hit it big. (We plan to!)
Yep--it's more Congressmen! Here's Jim with fully forty percent of the five-man Congressional rock band The Second Amendments. To Jim's right is Republican Representative Kenny Hulshof of Missouri, and to his right is Democratic Representative Collin Peterson of Minnesota. After all, shouldn't rock 'n' roll always be non-partisan!
Just to prove that your webmaster can shoot a different type of picture with a big name guest, here's Jim with Arizona Congressman J. D. Hayworth and two copies of his new book "Whatever It Takes."
Here's Jim with recent guest Ambassador L. Paul Bremer, III, the man who served for a year as the U.S. Administrator in Iraq. (He looks good for a man who went through that ordeal, doesn't he?) That's a copy of the Ambassador's book "My Year in Iraq" splitting time with the two gentlemen.
Holiday time means holiday snapshots. Here are a few from Jim's travels. Above left is Jim with Norm Stewart, the former University of Missouri basketball coach whose efforts helped found Coaches vs. Cancer. In the center is a shot of Jimbo at KCLQ, "The Coyote" in Lebanon, MO; and at right--look! It's Jimbo Claus! Below is Jim on "The Morning Meeting" with Fred Parry and Simon Rose of KFRU/Columbia, MO; under that is another "Morning Meeting" shot, featuring a lusty rendition of "Silver Bells" performed by "Morning Meeting" regular Irene Haskins (of the Columbia Daily Tribune); Debbie Portel and Jill Bacon (responsible for our wonderful "Mr. Bohannon" theme song); Max and Nick Parry, and Darwin Hindman, Hizzoner the fabulous mayor of Columbia, MO.

Nobody doesn't like puppies, right? Here's Jim with 'Gus,' a Neapolitan Mastiff rescued by Animal Control and the Columbia, MO, Humane Society, and now owned by Annabelle's daughter Betsy.
You've heard our "Jimbo Baby" theme that we occasionally use to open an hour of the show? The singer is the talented Michelle Murillo, who by day works for the Florida Radio Network. In her spare time, she freelances as a pirate. (Yes, you read that correctly.) In this photo, that's pirate wench Michelle on the right. (We have it on good authority that that's not Johnny Depp on the left.)
Here's Jim and Annabelle with Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller!
Here's a shot of Jim in the studio with recent guest Alan Alda, showcasing Mr. Alda's new book "Never Have Your Dog Stuffed" (and note Jim in the photo working on his Bob Dole impression--as fine an example of pen clutching as we've ever seen [excluding Mr. Dole, of course]!).
 .
Jimbo served again as the announcer for the Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremonies broadcast, held this year at the Renaissance Hotel in Chicago. Above are three shots featuring presenters at the ceremonies. To the top left is Jimbo with the inimitable Regis Philbin (who also hosted the event); to the top right is Jim's wife Annabelle with Pittsburgh Steeler great Franco Harris (and no, even though this picture was taken at the Radio Hall of Fame reception, no 'immacualte' jokes will be made here!); and immediately above is the TV talk show ringmaster Jerry Springer, flanked by the lovely Annabelle and the distinguished, tux-enrobed Jimbo. The shot below is of Jimbo guesting on the "Beyond the Beltway" program hosted by the Radio Hall of Fame's Bruce Dumont (that's Bruce on the far right). Between Jim and Bruce are Kathy Posner of the Chicago Human Rights Commission and documentarian Brian Boyer. (Nice beard there, Mr. Boyer!)
We took the show on a distant remote broadcast (well, it was two blocks away!) at WRGW, the radio station operated by the students at George Washington University in the Nation's Capital. On the left, Jim is accepting a fabulous framed cover page of a 1925 edition of Radio Broadcast magazine from Mike Friedman (L), Vice President of Communications at GWU, and Steve Roche (R), the student General Manager of WRGW. On the right are some of the students who joined Jim on-the-air in the third hour of the program. You're going to be hearing more from these folks in the future! (One reason for that is the help they're getting from that distinguished gentleman on the far left in the back, Dick Golden, who was instrumental in getting our broadcast to you that evening. Thanks again, Dick!)
Here's Jim with recent guest Steve Forbes, when the former Presidential candidate graced our studios during his "Flat Tax Revolution" book tour.
We've talked about Jim visualizing a four-poster bed (see below). He's still working on it, but he has managed to conjure up two comfy chairs! (We were going to make a 'comfy chairs' joke here, but Monty Python did it better years ago, and we don't want to get sued for stealing intellectual property.)

During Jim's recent time off he visited Mount Airy, North Carolina--you know, the birthplace of Andy Griffith. Here's Jim waiting outside Floyd the Barber's place, perusing the fare at Snappy's, and posing with the old police cruiser.
Here's Jim with recent guest Senator Trent Lott (R-MS), when the Senator made the Bohannon Show a stop on his "Herding Cats" book tour.
A pair of class acts: Jim Bohannon and Phil Donohue.
Here's Jim at the studios of affiliate KFRU in Columbia, MO, flanked by the co-hosts of "The Morning Meeting," Fred Parry and Simon Rose. (Hmm...wonder what they're celebrating?)

We describe Jim as a militant moderate, and here's proof. Shown with affiliate WAAV, Jacksonville, NC's, Rhonda Bellamy, you can clearly see Jim standing up for both sides of the issue.

Here are a couple of shots from Jim's visit to the "Morning Magazine" program on affiliate KRMS, News-Talk 1150, in Osage Beach, MO. (Of course they're hazy--aren't you that early in the morning?) That's Jim with KRMS Promotions Director Dave Winzen on the left. (Hi, Dave!)
Jim was privileged to help out affiliate AM 930 WFMD in Frederick, MD, with their "Christmas Cash for Kids" fund drive in 2004.
Admit it--you've never seen anyone drooling butter sauce before, have you?
When Jim was in Los Angeles for the 2005 National Association of Broadcasters convention, he renewed acquaintances with former Westwood One and current Associated Press Radio correspondent Ross Simpson. (And no, Ross wasn't there to cover street gang violence; he was dressed in the gear he used whn he covered the invasion of Iraq embedded with U.S. troops!)
Here's Jim with recent guest Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), showing off the Senator's first book "It Takes a Family."
On August 3, 2005, Jim again broadcast live from the Ozark Empire Fair in Springfield, MO. Above is a shot of Jim with comedian Yakov Smirnoff taken at an earlier Ozark Empire Fair. You never know who will show up! (This year it was Country music superstar Trace Adkins!) Immediately below is Jim posing outside the control room of what Yakov calls his favorite radio station...when he was in Russia!
BY POPULAR DEMAND! It's Jim and his 'better half,' the lovely Annabelle! (This shot was taken at their 2005 High School Reunion!)
We've got a pair of shots here from Jim's appearance before the Missouri Broadcasters Association in Kansas City. To the left, Jim is addressing the assembled multitudes on the evils of too much commercialism (even though what it really looks like is Jim angling for a spot with NASCAR). On the right, Jim can be seen here after his address being surrounded by staffers from Jim Bohannon Show affiliate KWIX in Moberly, MO. (No, they were not a duly and legally constituted posse.)
The shots above are from the "Jim Bohannon Show" remote from the TALKERS magazine convention on June 10, 2005. The shot on the left is Jim with TALKERS editor and publisher Michael Harrison. (That's our remote engineer, John Landry, to the far left.) The photo to the right is Jim and John with two Westwood One executives: Bart Tessler and Kevin DeLany. (We'd be making a joke here about them appearing a little stiff, but since they're our bosses it was decided that might not be the best choice to make.)
Jim took part in the 2005 New Media Seminar in New York City recently. He participated in a panel on "The Future of Talk Media" with (from left to right) Citadel Vice President Brian Jennings, Michael Horn of CRN Digital Talk, Saga Communications Executive Vice President Steve Goldstein, and Jay Clark, a Vice President with Sirius Satellite Radio. (That's Jim on the far right, of course, looking pensive. Either that, or he's wondering if the table skirt would make for good wallpaper.) The two shots below are also from the New Media Seminar: the first with Westwood One bigwig Bart Tessler, the second with columnist Joel Mowbray. (And we swear--we don't know how that adult beverage got there!)
Hey--it's Jim and his Corgi Trevor!
(Or is that Jim with his Trevor, Corgi? Your webmaster can't tell all these breeds apart!)
Jim and Annabelle recently returned from a trip to South Carolina. In the shots above, Jim is enjoying the bucolic Southern lifestyle. In the shot below left, Jim is visiting with Robert French, the husband of Annabelle's former college roommate. To the right, Jim is practicing his Zen meditation techniques. He was trying to visualize a canopied four-poster bed, but since he's only a beginner he only got as far as the bed frame. (Thanks the photos, Annabelle!)
Jim recently visited Russ (Cassell) & Lisa (Rollins) at America in the Morning affiliate WORD, NewsRadio 1330/950 in Greenville, SC, and, as usual, had more fun than the law--or the FCC--normally allow. (Photo courtesy WORD--thanks, folks!)
We were recently graced by a visit from a true American hero: former Senator and Presidential candidate Bob Dole.
Paul the producer returned from a Florida vacation with some photos. On the left is his lovely wife Debby, modeling her Bucknell University T-Shirt (she and Paul are both alums) at Osceola Country Stadium in Kissimmee, FL, Spring home of the Houston Astros. She wore the shirt to commemorate Bucknell's upset of Kansas in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament that day. The other photo is of Space Coast Stadium, home of the brand spankin' new Washington Nationals, in beautiful downtown Viera, FL. (Actually, that's not entirely true--Viera doesn't have a downtown...at least, not yet.) The seats are teal because the stadium was originally built for the Florida Marlins.
This photo is of Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. While spending a full day (rain or no rain!), Paul and Debby took the 'backstage' bus tour there. While the space science was amazing, what impressed Paul most was the wildlife--KSC is located in the midst of a nature reserve housing an impressive variety of birds and other animals (not to mention a surfeit of alligators!). As this photo shows, Paul is clearly not the ace phtographer in his family (his brother Greg holds that title).
Our lead engineer, Ted Schneider, came back from a trip to Arizona with these two photos. Here he shows off a majestic view of the Grand Canyon (and his wife, LeAnne as well), and his less-than-majestic accomodations. (Thanks for the photos, Ted!)
The two photographs above are from the Veterans' Inaugural Ball Jim attended on the night of January 20, 2005. The first is Jim on stage with singer Tony Orlando; the second is a quiet moment spent with Larry King (whose CNN program Larry King Live continues to air on Westwood One to this day) and former Westwood One producer Judy Thomas, who helped organize the Veterans event.
In September, 2004, we celebrated the twentieth anniversaries of both The Jim Bohannon Show (on 9/22) and America in the Morning (on 9/17). Partying (and having a high old time, we might add) are (from left to right) two-thirds of Bohannon Show booker John Stolnis, Westwood One VP of News Bart Tessler, your ‘umble host, former Westwood One colleagues and current CBS-TV employees Craig Warner and Craig Katz, Westwood One engineer Bill Pimble, AITM producer and former Bohannon Show producer Tom Delach (hair, ear, and shoulder only—sorry Tom!), and host of Westwood One’s First Light and Week in Review programs Dirk Van.

Jim is going to be involved with a new television project called BlueHighways TV. Here, Jim appears on stage with Ronnie Reno and Stan Hitchcock of BlueHighways TV (left and center, respectively) as Bresnan Communications announces that BlueHighways TV will be seen on their cable television system in Grand Junction, CO. You can visit BlueHighways TV on the ‘net by clicking here.
No, he’s not talking in his sleep! Jim was looking down at his voluminous reference material when this shot was taken in January, 2005.
Here's Jim in our palacial studio with recent guest, documentarian Ken Burns. Burns may be short in stature but he's a giant in terms of talent.
(Many photos courtesy Annabelle Bohannon. Nice shooting, Annabelle!)
