Jim Bohannon Show FAQs

1) What the heck is Westwood One?

Westwood One provides over 150 news, sports, music, talk, entertainment programs, features and live events. Through its subsidiaries, Metro Networks/Shadow Broadcast Services, Westwood One provides local content to the radio and TV industries including news, sports, weather, traffic, video news services and other information. The SmartRoute Systems division manages traffic information centers for state and local departments of transportation, and markets traffic and travel content to wireless, Internet, in-vehicle navigation systems and voice portal customers. Westwood One serves more than 5,000 radio stations.

Westwood One is headquartered in Culver City, CA, with studios both there and in shared locations in New York, NY, and Washington, DC. Westwood One is an independent public company (NYSE: WON) whose largest corporate investor is CBS Radio, the wholly-owned radio division of the CBS Corporation. As a result of this relationship, Westwood One and CBS Radio maintain agreements to share facilities and on-air material. That's why you hear various CBS radio and television correspondents doing voice reports on The Jim Bohannon Show, America in the Morning, and other Westwood One programs.

2) Who chooses the guest hosts when Jim takes a night off?

That job falls to Management. Neither the host nor the producer has any say in the matter. Not that Management hasn't done a fine job finding guest hosts...were you listening when these folks graced the Jim Bohannon Show microphones?: Joan Rivers, Fred Grandy, Leslie Marshall, Allan Prell, Tom Snyder, Jerry Springer, Rosie O'Donnell, Dan Abrams, Jeff Katz, the Reverend Al Sharpton, Jay Alan, Janet Langhart Cohen, Dan Raviv, Ron Insana, Max Kellerman, Dom Giordano, Joe Scarborough, Richard Bey, and Jackie Mason?

3) Can I listen to the show using my computer?

Well, not directly through us--we don't yet (officially) stream the show. Frankly, we'd prefer you to listen to the program on your local station, because supporting them helps keep us on the air. If your local talk station isn't airing The Jim Bohannon Show, pester them until they pick it up (you have our permission!). If you simply can't live without Jim Bohannon on your computer (believe us, we understand the addiction) click on the button above marked "Streaming Info."

4) Do you offer transcripts or audio copies of the program?

Sorry, no. We just don't have the staff to produce them.

5) Where can I find a list of stations that air The Jim Bohannon Show, America in the Morning, and America This Week?

Well, not here. BUT, the Network does maintain a look-up facility on its website so you can find your closest affiliates carrying these programs, and all of the other fine Westwood One offerings. Click this link to visit, but remember to come back here when you're done!

6) Where can I buy a copy of your theme music?

Sorry, but you can't. The Jim Bohannon Show Theme was composed specifically for the program and was performed by a very talented group of studio musicians. It is not available commercially.

Jim Bohannon Show FAQtoids

Did You Know...?

...that the Jim Bohannon Show studio in Washington, DC, has a mirrored ceiling? As far as we know, it's the only such radio studio in existence. (As to why it's mirrored? We have no clue!)

...that we don't hear the commercials in the show? (They're added by a computer at the network's operations center in New York City.)

...that Jim does America in the Morning from another, smaller studio no more than 20 feet from where he does The Jim Bohannon Show? Why? Well, Westwood One's other morning news show, First Light with Dirk Van, 1) needs a greater level of engineering and production expertise (for instance, that show has a daily segment that includes listener telephone calls), and 2) Dirk wanted his daily chance to stare at the mirrored ceiling, too!
